Formed in September 2000 in response to the increasing number of women being diagnosed with breast cancer, Sister Sister was created to provide support, counseling, and assistance. With encouragement from Dr. Locksley Munroe, Dr. Charles Diggiss, and Nurse Charlene McPhee, it started with just fifteen (15) members and now supports over five hundred (500).
The group’s mission is holistic—enhancing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It seeks to cater to the “whole man” through shared support and encouragement, helping women rise above the challenges of breast cancer.
"Empowering Women to Become Conquerors. Sisters Are Angels Who Lift Us Up When Our Wings Forget to Fly."
Globally, the pink ribbon symbolizes breast cancer awareness, joy, and hope. Sister Sister’s journey began with a single unopened rose. Later, it transitioned to an open rose—symbolizing life and hope. In 2006, a unique emblem was created by Graphic Artist Antonio Saunders, featuring two sisters united by the pink ribbon.
Originally, the motto was "Women Helping Women". In 2016, it changed to "Women Helping Others" to reflect the broader support extended to men and children affected by cancer.
Sister Sister Breast Cancer Support Group was founded by three passionate healthcare professionals committed to supporting women on their breast cancer journey.
